Endocrine and immune signalling peptides
Endocrine and immune signalling peptides groups 14 indexed compounds. Also written as signalling peptides, regulatory peptides, hormone-releasing peptides.
Definition
This class groups peptides whose retrieved literature concerns endocrine or immune signalling outside the growth hormone axis. A 2004 Journal of Neuroendocrinology paper reports that kisspeptin-10 stimulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, a 1986 Peptides paper is an update on delta sleep-inducing peptide, and a 2004 Blood paper reports that thymosin alpha 1 activates dendritic cells. Gonadorelin appears in the retrieved set largely through veterinary reproductive work, including a 2009 Theriogenology comparison of gonadorelin products in lactating dairy cows.
[1, 2, 3, 4]Class-level mechanism as reported
The members act on different axes and the records say so individually. A 2004 Journal of Cell Science paper describes kisspeptin-10 as a KiSS-1 and metastin-derived decapeptide, and a 2011 Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism paper reports it as a potent stimulator of luteinising hormone. A 1984 Brain Research paper reports evidence that a labelled form of delta sleep-inducing peptide crosses the blood-brain barrier, and a 1983 Neuroscience Letters paper reports increased sleep after intracerebroventricular injection. For thymosin alpha 1 the retrieved records are immune: a 2013 Critical Care paper reports a multicentre trial in severe sepsis. Gonadorelin records report luteinising hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone responses.

11 of 14 compounds in this class are withheld pending qualified review, so their reported values are not shown here and their pages are not published. They are listed because the class is incomplete without them.
